As a primary industrial raw material and the most important industrial and special gas, hydrogen is widely applied to petrochemical, electronics, metallurgy, food processing, float glass, fine organic synthesis, aerospace, and other industries. Under normal circumstances, hydrogen combines with oxygen easily, making it a natural reducing agent used for preventing oxidation. For instance, hydrogen is added into the protective hydrogen for removing residual oxygen for high-temperature processing of glass and manufacturing of electronic microchips. Also, hydrogen is applied to the petrochemical industry to purify crude oil through desulphurization and hydrocracking. In another important scenario, hydrogen is applied to hydrogenating hydrogen in man-made butter, edible oils, hair shampoo, lubricant, home cleansers. Besides, hydrogen also serves as the raw material for synthesizing ammonia, methyl alcohol, and hydrochloric acid, the reducing agent for metallurgy, and the desulphurizing agent for petroleum refining.
